The Personalities Behind Payoff — Meet Laurene R. From Our Engineering Team

I have been at Payoff since …
May 2013.

The best thing about my job is …
The amazing people I work with and the great opportunities I have to expand my skillset.

When I’m not working, I am …
Hanging out with my husband and two young girls.

My friends describe me as …
(happylaurie) or (sadlaurie).

When it comes to dogs or cats, I prefer …
Cats. I have one of these furballs, and he is my 3rd baby.

My favorite TV show is …
Game of Thrones.

My favorite food is …
Thai.

My favorite vacation was to …
Bali and Singapore, on my honeymoon.

A website I check all the time is …
Reddit

The song I never get tired of hearing is …
Anything from Damien Rice.

When I was a kid, my dream job was …
To be an artist.

If I had a superpower, it would be …
To clone myself. (There’s never enough time in the day).

Magnets?
I’m all for them, useful little things.

What would you write in a message-in-a-bottle?
I’d probably write something to make the reader feel good, since it’s really a one-sided conversation, right?

What’s the appeal of a road less traveled?
That’s food for thought. For me, it would be appealing to see new things and learn about other cultures.

If you could change your middle name, what would you change it to?
Siobhán (just so no one could pronounce it, much like what happens with my first name).

What was the best date you’ve ever been on?
With my husband, in NYC, when we were first dating.

If I could paradox-free time travel to any day in history, I would …
Easter Sunday of 1916 to witness the Irish rising.

What’s the deal with airline food?
First-class food can be pretty OK, though.

What matters most to me is …
Spending time with my little family.

What I don’t care about at all is …
:-/

On a Saturday/Sunday, I love to …
Take a breather and destress with my little family.

I really admire …
My mother. She raised me and my sister singlehandedly. I appreciate that more and more every day as my husband and I raise our girls.

Money is …
A necessary evil. A means to an end.

Money is not …
The most important thing in life.

My money personality is …
The Architect.

Last week’s Payoff Personality, Scott Saunders, asked you:
Where we you born and how did that impact you?

I was born in Limerick, Ireland. Living away from home gives me a deeper appreciation for my heritage and makes me proud to be Irish. As an added bonus, I get to have a awesome accent that serves as a great ice-breaker!

And you get to ask next week’s Payoff Personality a question. What’s your question and how would you answer it?
What is something you’ve always wanted to try but have been too scared to?

Bungee jumping.
