The Personalities Behind Payoff — Meet Bart W. From Our Design Team

I have been at Payoff since …
August 2010 (5 years and 7 months) … I’ve seen things, people.

The best thing about my job is …
Loving what I do every day. The people are pretty awesome, and the fridge always has soda.

When I’m not working, I’m …
Sleeping, hanging out with my super hot wife and playing video games. In that order.

My friends describe me as …
Sarcastic, witty and a sharp dresser. Also, humble. 🙂

When it comes to dogs or cats, I prefer …
Dogs for their unconditional love. Cats for their self-sufficiency. If my wife has her way, we’ll own both … plus a hamster.

My favorite TV show is …
Probably The Bachelor/The Bachelorette. I feel your stares of judgment already. It’s part of how my wife and I met, and we still watch it together to this day.

My favorite movie is …
The last one I saw. I have a short memory.

My favorite book is …
Same answer as for movies.

My favorite food is …
Beer.

My favorite vacation was to …
Not really a vacation, but I went on a mission trip to Kenya a few years ago. I had always wanted to go to Africa.

Truth or dare?
Dare.

If you were a professional wrestler, what would your gimmick be?
Throwing large amounts of money at my opponent to distract them whilst I sweep the leg.

What do you do in your car when you’re stuck in horrible LA traffic?
I have a Spotify playlist of singable songs for just such an occasion. Yeah, I’m that guy next to you belting Justin Timberlake at the top of his lungs.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I’d like to take a trip through Europe by train. Not with the band Train. Those guys owe me money.

A website I check all the time is …
Payoff.com. Too easy?

The song I never get tired of hearing is …
Thriller” by Michael Jackson. That bassline, though …

When I was a kid, my dream job was …
Batman.

If I had a superpower, it would be …
Normally, I’d say something like flight or invisibility. However, after watching Heroes Reborn, being a master of time and space is looking pretty sweet.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?
Too many. That’s why I’m more of a Starburst kinda guy.

If I had to choose between iPhone or Android, I’d choose …
iPhone. Although, if their new naming scheme takes off, it may just be called “Phone.”

What would you write in a message-in-a-bottle?
Nothing. Instead, I’d place a picture of Sting inside because I appreciate irony.

What’s the appeal of a road less traveled?
Fewer potholes. Fix your roads, California!!!

If you could change your middle name, what would you change it to?
I’d probably leave it. My name, Barton Edward, is a combination of both of my grandfather’s names. I think it’s important to honor your family heritage.

Who you gonna call?
Presently? My accountant. Tax season is here, and I did not adequately prepare.

What was the best date you’ve ever been on?
Obviously, the first date I went on with my wife. Is she still listening?

If I could paradox free time travel to any day in history, I would …
Depends on whether or not I could return to present day. I suppose, using my aforementioned master of time and space powers, that would not be an issue, though.

If we were to achieve global peace tomorrow and the whole world were celebrating, I would want to party at …
The United Nations. I hear they have bottle service.

What matters most to me is …
God. Family. Wine.

What I don’t care about at all is …
Sports. Unless I’m watching with my wife. Then “Go Broncos!”

On a Saturday/Sunday, I love to …
Sleep and go to church. Sometimes those things happen at the same time. Super kidding, ya’ll.

I really admire …
The people I work with. They really are some of the brightest folks around. And, no. I’m not just looking for a raise.

Money is …
Useful.

Money is not …
In my wallet.

My money personality is …
The Adventurer.

Last week’s Payoff Personality, Ty K., asked you:
Which is your place of solitude — the ocean or the mountains?

I prefer the mountains. I lived at the beach for 4 years. Too much traffic and no parking anywhere.

And you get to ask next week’s Payoff Personality, Joy W., a question. What’s your question and how would you answer it?
Why are manhole covers round?

I Googled the answer. If you’re not cheating you’re not trying, right?
